Dietitian

Summary:
The Dietitian is responsible for implementing an individualized nutritional care plan for each patient. Provides dietary instructions as well as food/drug interaction education for patients, as deemed necessary. Recommend appropriate feeding methods/formula or meal patterns. Responsible for developing or obtaining patient nutrition educations materials. Counsel patient, family, significant other, or caregiver on prescribed diet and monitor adherence and response to therapy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participates, as part of the Nututrition Support Team, in the clinical management of patients and potential nutrition patients
- Works with sales team to visit customers and focus efforts on key nutritional business lines to drive profitability. Expected to work with all branch/pharmacy/clinical/sales personnel to assure a high level of customer satisfaction
- Assists regional sales management staff in developing and executing plans to grow nutrition business through specific strategies, goals and pertinent account information. Identifies and promotes nutrition program services to clinical and professional referral base
- Develops, implements, and monitors enteral and parenteral therapies to counteract the patient’s compromised nutritional status
- Reviews patient’s medical history, anthropometrics, and pertinent lab values to assess appropriateness of home nutrition support protocols. Make recommendations for nutrition intervention when necessary
- Educates patients and caregivers on home enteral and parenteral nutrition therapy. Assesses patients’ understanding of and compliance with prescribed diet principles
- Participates as a member of our nutritional support team. Full time position will lead and coordinate nutrition support team
- Works along side the General Manager in maintaining the Performance Improvement Program and ACHC Accreditation.
- Provides support to sales team in marketing the nutrition program
- Performs in-service education to referral sources, physicians and nursing agencies. Provides instruction on clinical topics related to disease –state management, improvement of patient outcome and reimbursement issues
- Performs other tasks or special projects as requested by management
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Must have strong communication skills and organizational skills
- High level of self-motivation, initiative, flexibility and ability to work under pressure
- Compliance with operational policies and procedures.
Education/Licenses/Certificates required:
- Registered dietician with state license preferred. BS in Nutrition or related field. Certified Nutrition Support Dietitian preferred
- Must have a valid drivers license
