Manager
Reports to: General Manager
Directs multiple pharmaceutical services including pharmaceutical care activities for customers / patients within the service area and monitors, documents and reports patient outcomes proactively. Oversees and directs warehouse operations, pharmacy inventory management, prescription compounding, dispensing process, home medical equipment management and supply management and delivery process.
Essential Job Functions:
- Directs pharmacy operations, as pharmacist-in-charge participates in the development of pharmacy budget and ensures compliance with state/federal licensure requirements/regulations.
- Maintains records in conjunction with the HHA programs and performs the duties of a Pharmacist as needed.
- Directs and coordinated pharmacy / branch intake, admissions, patient records, care planning, pharmacokinetic programming, monitoring, ongoing clinical assessment, discharge planning and oversees patient care conferences.
- Works with warehouse/distribution staff to ensure supply inventories, planning and scheduling of delivers and pick-ups and ensures patient/customer satisfaction.
- Acts as a central resource for reimbursement information and responds to billing related questions from customer and branch staff.
- Directs preparation, compounding and dispensing of all prescriptions and coordinates equipment & product recalls according to written procedures. Ensures adherence to standard policy and procedures for drug/supply procurement.
- Participates in branch, department and intra-departmental meeting and as needed participates in sales presentations to provide pharmacy expertise.
- Provides consultation and answers inquires from patients, families and physicians regarding medications and their usage and assists physicians and nursing staff in development of therapeutic drug plans for patients.
- Directs the implementation/maintenance of the Pharmacy Quality Improvement Program.
- Develops QI indicators based on identified trends, high volume, high risk, or problem prone areas specific to his/her location.
- Directs/coordinates/supports preparation for pharmacy accreditation preparation and continued compliance.
- Participates in contract negotiation with local first dose pharmacies and/or practice management groups. Oversees Contract Pharmacies.
- Directs collection of monthly statistical data as required for reports on pharmacy operations (e.g. inventory, staffing, billings, etc.).
- Directs and coordinates Pharmacy in service programs and ensures ongoing communication among care staff members, interprets nursing component of care plan, communicates technology updates to appropriate staff members and develops local pharmacy objectives.
- Monitors patient/customer satisfaction trends to identify areas for improvement, resolves client grievances in collaboration with pharmacy, nursing, management and corporate staff and makes recommendations for improvement to General Manager.
- Participates in product evaluation activities by testing new products as requested by General Manager and corporate office.
- Required to work on-call evenings and weekends on an as scheduled basis
- Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- A minimum of 1-3 years Home Infusion Pharmacy management experience desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deal with a diverse customer group
- Knowledge of infusion therapies
- Accuracy in mathematical calculations including pharmokinetic dosing
Education/Licenses/Certificates required:
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or Pharm D and a minimum of two (2) years supervisory/management experience in a hospital or home health care setting
- Licensed and in good standing with the Board of Pharmacy in the state of practice
- Current valid driver’s license and proof of current automobile insurance
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
- Minimum travel may be required
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is reqularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand and reach with hands and arms. The employees must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 30 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
